ABOUT US
Culpeper United Methodist Church Preschool is committed to providing the best possible environment for nurturing young children. We encourage each individual child by placing equal emphasis on physical, social, emotional, creative, intellectual and spiritual development. We offer rich and varied active learning opportunities guided by warmth, love, competence, and experience.
Our school was established as a non-profit organization. We are a religiously based school; and as such, we are exempt from state licensing. However, we are monitored by the state and must meet and document the required guidelines set forth by the state and implement their recognized health, safety and staffing requirements.
We have a wonderful staff of dedicated and well trained educators. Our staff is Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), First Aid, Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and Medication Administration (MAT) trained and certified. Our staff is also required to participate in continuing education classes.
Our school can reach a maximum enrollment of 30 students. We offer preschool classes for children ages three and four. There is a maximum enrollment of 12 students in our 3 year old class and a maximum enrollment of 18 students in our 4 year old class. Our preschool program runs from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm.
We use the My Father's World Christian Preschool curriculum which encourages curiosity and awe for God's amazing creation. Through this curriculum, children will gain academic readiness while developing language, critical-thinking, physical, and social skills. Teachers engage students daily through read-alouds, music, hands on manipulatives, science projects, math games, art and crafts, play, and much more.
CUMC Preschool follows religious exempt guidelines set by the Department of Social Services and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin or religion. We admit well, ambulatory children whose health and abilities allow them to participate in all activities during the normal classroom day.
